style korean drama

Title: Style
Genre: Romance
Episodes: 16
Broadcast Network: SBS

Wondering about how the fashion world exactly is? If you do, you can get glimpses of it through Korean drama titled "Style". I put this series into my top 10 list of Korean drama of all time. Why? Because this drama is quite different than any other Korean dramas I've ever seen. Probably this is the first Korean drama where you can see lots and lots of glamorous brands and outfit in one running-watching time. And the story is also really intriguing, which is great for understated detective-to-be like me.

The Casts

Lee Seo-Jung

lee seo jungA newbie chick in a fashion world. Been working for one year a half to be assistant of editor Park Ki-Ja, Seo-Jung has complicated judgement to her boss. She admired her boss' glamorous look and sharp-ideas, yet condemned her boss' bad temper.

Seo-Jung is like a Korean version of Anne Hathaway's 'Andy Sachs.' She often almost gives up and wants to resign, yet the instant determination always beaten by her long wish-list. Can't blame her, though. Since it's too saddening to give up all privileges making thousands girls would kill to get her job. :)

Park Ki-Ja

park ki jaMaybe this is the Korean version of "Devil Wears Prada." Just like Anna Wintour of America Vogue, Park Ki-Ja has a perfect personality to be the fashion beacon. She's stylish. She's smart. And the most important quality (maybe) is she has a sharp-vision and almost has no mercy to anything low-quality.

Actually, she's more than a capable editor to Style magazine. Perhaps, she's more like a whistleblower, since all the conflicts and the awakening of Style's twisted background are awakened by her curiosity. But, after all, I must admire that I adore her. Just like what Kim Min-Joon the photographer said, "Editor Park is like a London red bus - she's iconic. You'll always know that's her, even from distance. Because she really stands out on the crowd."

Seo Woo-Jin

ryu shi woon seo woo jinAn American-based Korean chef later returning to Korea. He's the guy who ladies're fighting for. He's young, handsome, success, and rich. But he's amazingly annoying and cynical when it comes to Style and fashion world. A former Park Ki-Ja enemy who later desires her.

...And he's the guy making everybody will gasp because of his connection to the intriguing background of Style magazine.

Kim Min-Joon

kim min joonA London-based photographer coming to Korea and working for 'Style'. He's portrayed as 'a man having interest on both sexes.' He has mixed feeling to Seo Woo-Jin and Park Ki-Ja. His gay-side is crushing the handsome chef, while he also has a special feeling to the dragon lady.

Kim Min-Joon later becomes Seo-Jung bestfriend supporting her to fight in the fashion world.
